What are you waiting for? Submit your KDP scholarship application today!

Kristen Jackson is director of advancement and foundation for Kappa Delta Pi.

Spring break has come to an end, and I know you are pushing to finish out this semester strong. I am confident you are rocking this year, and summer will be a joyful celebration of your accomplishments. But before you get settled back into your routine, remember the fall semester is right around the corner, and the list of needs is never-ending. KDP is here to help with our International Scholarship Program.

We have $66,000 to award, and what’s great is that our scholarships can be used to advance your studies or teaching career. You can put award dollars toward tuition, textbooks, technology, classroom manipulatives, continuing education, and so much more.

The process to apply is simple: Request a reference letter, locate a few  required documents, write a topic-specific 750-word essay, and answer a handful of additional questions through our online application portal.

To help you out, here are a few common questions KDP members have asked me:

“It is an honor and a privilege to receive both the recognition, as well as the financial assistance. These funds will enable me to support my studies through the purchase of books, student fees, conferences, and other professional development activities.” Natalie Ridgeway, 2014 recipient, C. Glen Hass Laureate Scholarship

1. I am graduating this spring; can I apply and at what level of study?

Yes! Apply in your current level of study.

2. Can I use unofficial transcripts?

Yes! We accept unofficial transcripts.

3. What opportunities should I apply for?

You are the only one who can determine this; read the criteria and apply for all that you qualify for.

4. I am not part of a KDP chapter; who should I request my reference letter from?

Ask your program advisor, dissertation supervisor, or administrator who can speak to your strengths as a current or future educator.

5. Where can I find my login information to apply for a scholarship?

The username and password is the same you would use to renew your membership online or access KDP Global. There is an option on the login screen to “request login information,” and our system can email you this information.

Visit the KDP Scholarship page for more details, including a full list of opportunities and guidelines. All applications must be submitted through the KDP online portal by May 1, 2015. Recipients will be announced July 1, 2015.

I look forward to receiving your application. Good luck!
