Say hello to Kappa Delta Pi’s new Northeast Regional Chapter Coordinator, Chapin Schnick!
Before coming to Kappa Delta Pi in June, I spent seven years teaching visual art to Kindergarten through 12th grade students. While I loved my time as an educator, I sought out an opportunity to revisit my Kappa Delta Pi roots (I was involved with the Eta (Purdue) chapter as President & Membership Chair from 2005-2007) and assist in the development of future educators and of our chapters through the RCC role.
My passion for education, and belief that learning truly is a life-long endeavor, led me to Bachelors degrees in Art Education & Fine Arts (Ceramics) along with an Art History minor, as well as a Masters in Art Education from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. On a more personal note, I am an avid runner and powerlifter, self-proclaimed cupcake and pink-obsessee, a diehard Boilermaker and UK Wildcat (I’m from central Kentucky,) and I’m happily married to a local police officer.
In addition to my role as Northeast RCC, I will be adopting the KDP Signature Service Initiative, Literacy Alive!. After spending time reviewing all of the 2014-2015 award-winning chapter submissions recently announced here, I am wildly impressed with the creativity expressed for strengthening student and community literacy, and I am excited to coordinate this program.
I am eager to get to know the members and chapter leaders of the northeast region, and beyond, and I encourage you to reach out to me via e-mail at chapin@kdp.org.
- Do you share one of my interests, or a piece of my history? Let me know!
- My friends and family describe me as vivacious, quirky, personable, passionate, creative, supportive, organized, & relentless; let’s see if you agree!
- Please say “howdy” to me at Convo in Orlando in October! (Warning: I’m a hugger!)
